When it comes to buying shoes, we all know that every kind of shoe fits differently, and we don’t always necessarily take the same size in every pair of shoes that we wear. This is no different when it comes to women’s cross country shoes, and that is why it is important to shop around for the right shoe.

Obviously, you know your own body, but how well do you know your feet? For example, do you know which way your foot rolls each time you step (pronating)? Do you have high or low arches? Do you have wide or narrow feet? These are all things that you need to consider when you are looking for women’s cross country shoes.

Here are a few more things to remember when you are buying running shoes:

Tell the salesperson about any abnormalities with your feet, such as fallen arches or the need for orthotics. That way, he or she will be able to use this information in deciding on the right pair of women’s cross country shoes for you.

Because our feet swell when we run, women’s cross country shoes (actually, anyone’s shoes) should be at least a half size larger than regular shoes. This will give the runner plenty of toe room, which is incredibly important. You don’t want bruised toes or blackened toenails that end up falling off.

Walk (run if you are allowed) around the store in each pair of women’s cross country shoes that you try on. Some sports shoe stores even have a treadmill so you can really run. Don’t forget to wear the socks that you will be wearing when you run.

You may purchase a pair of women’s cross country shoes and wear them for a week, only to discover that they really aren’t as comfortable as you originally thought. You can’t return them at this point, so you will just have to bite the bullet and get another pair.

You shouldn’t have to replace your women’s cross country shoes any more than every 300 to 400 miles of running. If they wear out any sooner, you have not gotten the best pair of shoes. But you will have learned a lesson too, and will not buy that type of shoes again.

Don’t buy shoes just because everyone else has them. Just because your best friend thinks they are the best women’s cross country shoes ever made doesn’t mean that they will be right for you. Also, ignore the bright colors and flashy images. These don’t improve your performance at all, and just add extra dollars to the cost of the shoes.

If you do need to wear orthotics, bring them with you when you are trying on new shoes. There is no sense in bringing home a pair of shoes, only to find that the orthotics don’t fit in properly. Also, once you have taken the original insole out, if it was glued in, many stores won’t allow a refund.

Now, get out there, get a great pair of women’s cross country shoes and start running, for fun and for your health.

When it comes to cross country running, which is better, spiked or spikeless cross country running shoes? The answer really depends on your own personal running needs. If you are going to be running cross country where there is rough terrain, such as rocks and loose dirt, having spiked running shoes will help to keep you from slipping and falling. But if you are like many other runners and you will be limiting your running to roads, tracks and packed running trails and not be racing, spikeless cross country running shoes are probably your best bet.

When you are buying running shoes, you need to make sure that you are getting a good quality shoe that is going to be comfortable and supportive. Besides not having spikes, spikeless cross country running shoes are made with the following parts that you need to look at before making your purchase:

Upper: This part is usually made from leather or a synthetic material. Preferably, the material will be one that is breathable, or the leather will have small holes for air flow.

Insole: The inside part of the spikeless cross country running shoes that cushions the feet. You can also add extra cushioning, or if you have orthotics, you may use these to replace the insoles.

Outsole: This is the rubber bottom portion of the running shoes that helps to provide traction and absorb shock.

Midsole: Provides stability and also absorbs shock. Some midsoles are comprised of ethyl vinyl acetate, which gives the runner extra shock absorption.

Toe Box: The front portion of the shoe. There should be plenty of wriggle room for your toes.

Heel Counter: The rubber piece that is on the back of the heel of the shoe. This provides cushioning when your heel hits the ground.

All running shoes are made to be lightweight for optimal speed and performance. There are other things that you may be interested in learning about when it comes to spikeless cross country running shoes, such as the different styles available, including:

Motion Control Shoes – These are made for people who overpronate (step on the outsides of their feet) when they run.

Performance Training Shoes – These are light and balanced, great for racing or regular training, and are often worn by racers.

Racing Shoes – Very lightweight shoes for racing, and not meant for runners with injuries.

Stability Shoes – Made for runners who need extra arch support and cushioning and are often used by overpronators.

Cushioned Shoes – These are for runners who need the best possible support and lots of cushioning, and they are great for people with high arches.

Off-Road Shoes – The name is pretty much self-explanatory. These shoes are more ruggedly made and are more resistant to weather and water than other types of spikeless cross country shoes.

Buying spikeless cross country running shoes is not exactly as easy as it looks. But if you shop at a store that specializes in sports shoes, there will be knowledgeable salespeople that will help you to find exactly what you need for long distance running.

Cross trainers. Jogging shoes. Running Shoes. Is there a difference, and what is the best type of shoe for cross country running? Cross country running is a sport that is enjoyed by many, and it is a sport that people can enjoy with others or alone. In either case, runners will need a good pair of shoes. There are many types of running shoes available, but cross country shoes are the best if you are going to be doing any sort of long distance running, and having cross country running spikes may provide an advantage when you are running.

Most running spikes are used by sprinters, and the shoes are lightweight, with base plates where spikes can be inserted into the bottom of the shoes. These shoes are mainly used by runners for better traction while running on a track, so there are fewer chances of slipping and falling. There are different lengths of spikes, and if you are using these shoes on a track, you must find out what the particular regulations for spiked shoes are. Many tracks have limitations as to how long spikes can be.

Cross country running spikes are similar in makeup to track spikes, with a variety of spike lengths. The spikes on cross country shoes tend to be quite a bit longer than those on track shoes. Just like with track spikes, cross country running spikes also help to keep the runner from slipping on certain surfaces, and because they are made for gripping, you will have no troubles running on wooded and rocky trails. If you know that you are going to be running where it is muddy, bring your longer spikes.

Remember, you may want to not use the spikes if you are going to be running on pavement, because they just won’t work. In this case, you may want to consider a different type of shoe other than cross country running spikes.

There are many shoe companies that specialize in sports shoes, including cross country running spikes. Your best option when you are looking for the right spikes is to visit a sportswear store or a store that specializes in sports shoes. There you will find salespeople who are trained to know the advantages and disadvantages of each type of shoe, and they will be able to get you running spikes that fit perfectly and are comfortable.

Because the spikes are removable, it would probably be wise to have a few extra spikes on hand. They will fall out as you are running, and you may end up needing to replace one or more on the fly.

Make sure that if you are going to be using cross country running spikes in races that you wear them while you are training. Just like any other shoe, you need to be used to them in order for them to be comfortable and for you to achieve optimal performance. The last thing that you need in a race is to be uncomfortable, with a bunch of blisters on your feet.

Many people who want to get involved in sports, but don’t want to spend the money on a lot of fancy equipment, take up running, thinking that they don’t need to purchase anything. Sure, you can wear just about anything that is comfortable to run in, like sweats, shorts and a t-shirt, stuff you can get off a department store discount rack. But, when it comes to footwear, you really should consider investing in a good pair of shoes, such as Nike cross country shoes.

There are many things to consider when you go shopping for Nike cross country shoes. First of all, you need to know your feet. Do you have normal arches, or will you need shoes that offer additional or less arch support? If you aren’t sure, you can try this easy trick: dampen the soles of your feet and then stand on a piece of paper for a few seconds. You will see the image of your foot, which you can trace or copy onto a piece of dry paper. Now, take a look at the image and see where your arch is. Bring the paper with you when you go shoe shopping.

How do your feet roll with each step you take (pronation)? Do they hit the ground with the outside of your heel and the ball of your foot touching the ground (neutral pronation)? Or do you walk more on the insides of your feet (underpronation) or on the outsides (overpronation)? This is easy to find out. Just take a look at the shoes you wear most frequently and see where the soles are wearing. When you are shopping for Nike cross country shoes, have the salesperson at the sportswear store help you to find the shoes that will best suit the shape of your feet and arches.

Here are a few more tips that you can use when shopping for Nike cross country shoes:

Bring old shoes so the salesperson can see the pronation and choose the right shoes based on this.

Shop in the afternoon or early evening, or once you have been on your feet for a while. This will ensure a good fit when running since your feet expand somewhat.

Bring the socks you plan to wear with the shoes to ensure a proper fit.

Get both feet measured, because they are never both the same size. A good rule of thumb to think about is that if you are right handed, your left foot will be larger, and vice versa. Make sure that your shoes are the best fit on the larger foot.

Bring along any orthotics that you will be using in the shoes. You need to know if they will fit right before you spend a lot of money on shoes.

Now that you are armed with plenty of shoe information, it’s time to head out and get shopping. With the right pair of Nike cross country shoes, you will be running marathons in no time!

If you are the parent of a teenager who is involved in track and field, you know how often they need new shoes. It is important for everyone who runs cross country to have the appropriate footwear, but it is especially important for growing youths. Not only do they quickly outgrow their shoes, but their feet are also changing shape and often, even a shoe that should fit doesn’t feel right.

When it comes time to shopping for shoes, your teenager is probably going to want the latest, flashiest shoes that are autographed by his favorite rapper. That is okay if the shoes are properly made, but if you want to ensure that your teenager is getting properly fitting running shoes, then you need to get them cross country running shoes, such as the ones in the Adidas cross country shoes line.

Don’t bother going to the department stores for running shoes (unless they have a good sportswear department with well-trained staff). You’re best off heading straight to a store that sells nothing but sportswear and sports footwear. You will find many Adidas cross country shoes in these specialty stores, and the specially trained staff will be able to help your teenager get exactly the right shoe.

There are certain things that you need to look for in running shoes. They need to be breathable and there should be a good grip on the sole. They should also be lightweight and offer good support, especially around the ankles. Bring your teenager along with you when you shop. There’s no sense in bringing home the wrong thing or something that doesn’t fit right. The staff at the sports stores will know how to properly measure your teen’s foot and find them the Adidas cross country shoes that suit them best.

When your teen is trying on running shoes, make sure that they don’t just stand there. Have them walk around the store, jump up and down and run in place to make sure they fit well, are comfortable and will provide maximum support when your teenager is running cross country. There are many types of Adidas cross country shoes for your teenager to try, so they are sure to find exactly what they are looking for.

When it comes to checking for size, your teen will know best how the shoes fit and feel, and of course, you will have the advice of the salesperson as well. But there is also a way that you can check yourself, just in case your teen really wants the shoes and will even buy ones that don’t fit just to get the latest “in” thing in running shoes. You will probably remember your mother doing this when you were a kid buying shoes…press your finger against the toe of the shoe. You should be able to feel a space about a finger-width size between your teen’s big toe and the end of the shoe.

Now, it’s time to go shoe shopping. Gather up your teen(s) and head to the sportswear store for some new Adidas cross country shoes. You want to protect your kids, and giving them the proper footwear is a good step in the right direction.

Cross country runners typically pay a lot of money for their shoes if they want quality, long lasting and supportive models that do not leave them with sore, aching feet or injuries. To make your shoes last longer, you have to care for them properly. But, before you care for them, you have to find the right shoe.

Shoes that do not support your feet can cause damage – permanent, long lasting damage – even if you have perfectly healthy, normal feet. If you have any type of foot damage or issue, you could be literally destroying their health by wearing the wrong shoe. Cross country running shoes that are not supportive can also cause back pain, knee pain and other damage. When you try a shoe on in the shoe store, it should feel comfortable and supportive, immediately. Look for a shoe that has enough room in the toe box; you should be able to wriggle each of your toes without any sensation of pinching or pain. The heel should feel properly cupped by the shoe as well. Women, do not think that you should settle for a smaller version of a man’s cross country shoe, you need to actually find the right women’s shoe. Women have narrower heels than men do, but may actually have wider feet across the toes.

When you try on the shoes in the store, make sure that you are wearing the right kind of socks so that you know they will fit when you are ready to go out for that first run. In addition, make sure that you are lacing the shoes up as if you are going to run that moment. Take a few running steps so you can see if they are comfortable and supportive.

Caring for Your Shoes

The way that you are going to care for your Asics cross country running shoes will depend on the materials that they are made of. For instance, if you are wearing leather shoes, you must make sure that they are properly protected before you head out. Putting protective sealers on your shoes will keep the leather from staining and spotting from rain, mud or salt in the winter months. When leather shoes are saturated, you should make sure that they are dried carefully, but be careful- leather shoes might get stiff after they have been soaked.

Mesh upper shoes may be wiped off with a damp cloth, and will dry without some of the damage that you might see with leather. If they are completely soiled, you may wash them off, however throwing them in the washing machine should be an absolute last resort. Even the best made shoe may not make it back out of the machine.

Soaking wet shoes should be placed somewhere they can dry carefully- fill them with rolled towels so they maintain their shape without drying in odd shapes or shrinking during the drying process. Brush dried mud off of your shoes before it stains.

The cross country shoe that you choose to wear should be based on your taste, style and other factors. Think about what kind of shoe that you feel best wearing as well as what you like to run in. Cross country running can be a very uncomfortable and foot-punishing sport if you do not have the right shoes. Think of your favorite brand, the color that you like the best and then work toward finding the perfect combination of all of these factors.

Name Brand vs. Knock Offs

Some people might be thinking that buying name brand shoes is out of their budget, however, the health and comfort of your feet is far more important than you would think. If you do not have the right shoes, with the right support for your feet, you will have a number of problems. Poorly supported feet can lead to ankle, knee and back problems as well as other problems. Injuries that occur during running typically happen because of poorly fit or non-supportive shoes.

Knock off shoes may be made with less than quality materials and may fall apart faster than what you would like. In addition, these shoes are sometimes created with poorly constructed soles, or unsafe materials. Finally, despite the publicity, there are still knock off shoes that are being built in factories that employ underage workers or pay less than a living wage.

Different Styles and Lines

Every shoe company has several different lines, names and styles under each kind of shoe. For instance, under cross country running shoes, Puma has a number of colors and styles all of which are perfect various runners. Each runner’s style is individual and the right shoe should be selected to match it- you may love one style under the Puma name but be less impressed with another. Finding the right shoe is just as important to a runner as proper training, technique and stretching. Without the right shoe, the runner might become injured or in such pain on every run that it’s tempting just give up altogether.

Each shoe might have several different styles from across the lines and each of the styles might be available in a number of colors if that is important to you. (Some dedicated runners might opt for several shoes of the same style in different colors.)

Professional Fit vs. Buying Online

Whether you buy your shoes at a shoe store with assistance or online should be decided by whether or not you have ever bought that brand or name before. If you have never tried them, it is smarter to go to the store and give them a try. Every shoe fits differently, even within the same name brand. Once you find the right shoe and style, you can buy online where you can typically take advantage of lower prices. If your style is no longer available, make sure that you try them on before buying online.

No matter what type of cross country running shoes you are interested in buying, you have to make sure that you are looking at several factors: brand name, cost, materials, support, fit and feel. No matter how serious you are about running – from a new beginner to a die hard, cross country running fanatic – having the right shoes is just as important as stretching and warming up and learning proper running technique.

Brand Names

While some people are not interested in buying brand name products, with shoes it is a little more important for a number of reasons. Shoes that are not made by reputable, well known sources could:

Be made with less than quality materials with less attention to detail

Not be as supportive or comfortable for your feet

Buying shoes from a well known and reputable company such as Saucony can alleviate some of the problem of buying knock offs. Another problem with the knock off shoes is the question of where they are made and by whom.

Cost and Materials

The cost of your shoes will be influenced by the material that they are made of. For instance, leather shoes will be more expensive than mesh upper shoes in most cases. Name brand or style might influence shoe cost in many cases as well, with each brand having different price levels among their lines. Saucony has different styles among the cross country lines that have different price ranges. Those with smaller feet might be able to wear shoes in the children’s line, for instance those who wear a smaller than average women’s shoe can wear a larger boy’s shoe. If you are considering this, make sure that you are getting the right amount of support from the shoes no matter which department you are buying them from.

Some lines or names within a line sell better than others and may be more expensive. Watch for sales and keep your budget in mind when shoe shopping. If you are a frequent runner, then you might benefit from a higher end shoe which you will wear out with use. On the other hand, if you rarely run, you should not be looking at high end shoes, when a cheaper shoe would be fine.

Support, Fit and Feel

The support that you get from a shoe should start with the arches. When you put a shoe on, you should feel immediate comfort and fit. There is no such thing as needing to “break in a shoe”- if the shoe does not fit when you try it on, it will not get better with time. Your shoes should support your ankles and should feel good on your feet. When you try them on at the store- you should have on the socks that you normally wear while running and should lace the shoes up completely. Take a little bit of a jog around the store so you get a real feel for the shoe. If you feel any wobble, pain or any other problem, then keep shopping.

If you are looking for the best men’s cross country shoes, then certain styles from Asics might be the way to go. There are a number of different cross country shoes that the company offers, including those with and without spikes. When you are looking at cross country shoes, you have to look at every aspect of them from the composition of the uppers to the material used for the soles. You also have to decide whether or not you need spikes or not. Here are some tips.

Uppers

Most cross country shoes come in two different types of uppers: leather and mesh. (Uppers are the part of the shoe that is colored and carries its style.) Leather uppers might be more stylish, can be warmer in some weather conditions and may last longer if cared for properly. However, leather has its drawbacks. It can stain under wet or other conditions, can feel stiff, even after extended wear, and does not breathe very well. Mesh uppers have more ventilation, allowing for flow of air or water, keeping the feet more comfortable. Mesh can also be far more flexible and allow for better fit. Mesh uppers might not be a great choice in the cold of winter though.

Inner Materials, etc.

The interior of the shoes has to have the right support and cushioning. Different levels of arches have to be addressed as well. Some people have high arches, some have low and some have neutral arches. The cushioning material has to be properly placed inside of the shoe so that the foot does not feel every single blow of the ground as the runner moves along. The interior material also helps to provide the right support to the foot.

Soles

The most common material for cross country running shoe soles is rubber. However, not all rubber soles are the same. Some soles will have more flexibility and others are stiffer. Each runner has a different need for their own personal running style.

Spikes or No Spikes

The type of ground you are running on the majority of the time will define whether or not you need spikes. If you are running on muddy or soggy ground, then you actually need spikes. If most of your cross country running is done on pavement, rocks or other solid ground, you will not need spikes. You can get shoes that can be used on either type of surface- with spikes that can be removed as needed.

Other Important Factors to Consider

If you are looking for the best fitting and most supportive shoe, you have to know what your unique foot needs are. Establish whether or not you have a high or low arch and whether or not you are tend to overpronation. A person who overpronates is one who has their foot roll inward or outward. The quickest check for pronation is to look at shoes that you wear a lot. Do they lean toward one another? If so, then you are pronating, or rolling your feet while you are wearing them.

The two most important aspects to look at when looking for cross country running shoes are fit and feel. While you might want to look around for the style that makes you happy to put those shoes on in the first place, you should not base your choice purely on the cutest colors or the flashiest name brands. An expensive shoe that does not fit correctly or a cheaper shoe that does not give correct support to your feet are going to cause the same exact problems: painful feet, a loss of your training schedule and routine and possibly an end to the love of running.

The Fit of Your Shoe

The way that your shoes fit is important because it will influence how the shoes feel on your feet. It will also determine support and other aspects of your shoes. If your shoes do not fit correctly, you are more likely to get blisters, corns and other foot problems. Shoes that do not fit correctly also will not support your feet at all, another important factor to consider.

If one of your feet is bigger than the other (a common condition), the shoe that you buy should address that foot first, however, if your feet are very different from one another, it might be difficult if not impossible to get the right fit for both feet. If you have a very hard time finding properly fitting shoes, it is important that you seek fit advice.

When trying on your shoes, make sure that you are wearing the type of socks that you commonly wear while running. Do not simply try on one shoe and be satisfied, put on both shoes with the laces laced and actually take a little jog in place.

Another thing to keep in mind about shoes and their fit: there is very rarely a universal size that fits you from all shoe brands- the size that fits well with one brand name might be far too small or far too large in another. Try them on from brand to brand and style to style, always.

The Feel of Your Shoes

Your shoes have to feel good on your feet, period. If they do not feel good, they will not be put back on. Think about it: you bought a pair of cross country shoes because they were cool in the store or because they were the right price- however, you wore them once and then discovered that they made your feet feel like they had been dipped in cement. You might wear them once more, getting the same results and back to the back of the closet they go. You have to make sure that your shoes feel good on your feet or they are simply not worth the price.

If you have any foot problems at all, your shoes should be designed to account for them. For instance, if you have a high or low arch, or you pronate (your feet roll to one side or another), then your shoes should be designed to work with these conditions.
